Thanks to its favorable position Liptov offers a numerous and wide range of the hiking tours and holidays. It is famous for its incredibly beautiful nature of mountain ranges, deep valleys and steep slopes. The Liptov region is surrounded by the Veľká Fatra mountain range, the Low Tatras, the Choč mountains and the West Tatras. The unique among them are the High Tatras.

The Demanovska valley is famous for the longest cave system in Slovakia with its rich karst formations. It is a national nature reserve. The system represents a unique instance of cave development by flow of the Demanovská brook and its tributaries. At the same time it is one of the most popular centres of tourism and winter sports.

Prosiecka and Kvačianska valleys north of the water reservoir Liptovská Mara belong to the most amazing Liptov valleys. The start of the way to Prosiecka valley, which is four kilometres long, is at the end of the village Prosiek. Tourists follow a tourist trail which explains to them the beauty spots of this deep steep valley with its amazing cliffs, caves and waterfalls.

From the village of Lúčky you are lead by a tourist trail to the Choč mountains. It is possible to make a hiking tour to the Big Choč peak from here. From the village of Kalameny you can make a trip to the Liptov Castle. In the past it belonged to the highest situated castles in the central Europe and was built on the Sestrč Hills /1000 ms /. Today it is represented only by its ruins.

From the opposite side if Choč mountains it is possible to visit the Likava castle. Its very impressing ruins are situated above the village Likavka.
