Piešťany Spa - History
The first indirect evidence of the
existence of thermal springs comes from archaeological discoveries of
the bones of prehistoric animals and settlements by prehistoric people
on the bank of the river, people who were attracted to the hot springs.
An extremely precious finding from this region is the small statue of
the woman carved from a mammoth tusk known as the Moravian Venus.
Scientists estimate its age at 22,860 years.
