Sklené Teplice - History
The first mention about spa is from 1550.
Sklené Teplice was in possession of different feudal proprietors. At
the end of 17.century the Lippay line died out and the whole spa
property devolved to state. The spa got into a control of suzerain
authority in Banská Štiavnica, which had merit in a construction of
bath buildings and a medical utilization of mineral wells. Nowadays
spas are managed by Incorporated Company.
Sklené Teplice Spa lies on a root of
Štiavnické Mountains in 400 m elevation, in a wonderful idyllic woody
valley, which traverses a stream Teplá. The commune Sklené Teplice has
begun writing it’s famous history already in 1340, in that time, during
the reign of the king Karl Robert, originated a commune Skleno. This
commune was famous for it’s production of glass at that time.
- Glaser filius Gerhardi de Doplicze officially founded the village in the beginning of teh 14 century, whil its first mention goes back to 1340. Nade and Vydrica, parts of the village, were mentined in documents dating back to the end of 13 century, and Vydrický hill wasfirst mentioned in 1075.
- The Mines Office in Banská štiavnica administered the property, and under its administration, spa houses were gradually built and medical use of the local mineral springs was developed.
- Teplica castle used to be part of the vilage ´s surroundings, existence of the castle was recorded in 1456 writings, when it wasconquered by the Czech house of Jiskra.
- The Spa was reconstructed in 1946, and in 1948 was taken over by the state hospital administration. Thus the spa became a medical services. Zhe spa offered 116 beds and various houses in 1970, and after 1955 a sanatorium offered 50 beds to employees of the Žiar nad Hronom aluminum factory. Park private guest house was built with a capacity of 45 beds in 1997, and teh guest house Lenka with 70 beds was built in 1998. Today the spa is a joint stock company.
