Healing treatments
The advantage of Piešťany Spa is in the use of healing methods rarely
found in other spas. For an optimal healing effect, we combine a
variety of treatments with synergistic efect – starting with the most
modern elements of locomotive therapy, through the application of
natural healing sources and electrotherapeutic methods, up to
medicamentous treatment – all using the latest medical advancements.
MIRROR BATH
This treatment is taken in a swimming pool with natural healing water at a temperature of 39°C, where the guests are immersed up to the shoulders. The heat from the thermal spa causes blood congestion, enhancing oxygen transmission to the organs, relaxation of the muscles and eleviation of the pain of the joints. Biochemical effects of the natural curative resources influences endogenous enviroment of the human body. The treatment is taken under the constant supervision of medical staff. The physician determines the duration of the application. Following the mirror bath, there are 15 minutes of relaxation in a dry pack. If the guest´s health permits it, he/she may have also a mud bath before the mirror bath.
MUD BATH
Mud bath is the uniqueness of the spa with mineral water at 39°C and mud built over the thermal springs. The bath takes from 5 to 8 minutes. It is taken standing up. It is an interesting and pleasant new experience for every guests and extremly effective healing treatment.
MUD PACK
This is one of our hot mineral treatments. The mud with its high content of elemental sulphur and its composition has mechanical, chemical and physical effects. The body becomes hot and absorbs vital substances through the skin. The mud can be used for either full or partial packs depending on the physician’s prescription. The pack temperature is 43 to 44 °C, and the duration of the treatment is 20 minutes. The guest is under constant medical supervision during the pack. After the treatment, is taken a shower and receive a dry pack lasting 15 minutes.
TUB BATH
This is one of our hot mineral treatments. The mud with its high content of elemental sulphur and its composition has mechanical, chemical and physical effects. CARBON BATH
Bath in water saturated with carbon dioxide. The client sits relaxed in the bath with the head above the side of the bathtub so he/she does not inhale the carbon dioxide. The water temperature is 34 to 35°C, the duration of the bath 15 to 20 minutes, which is followed by a dry pack lasting 20 minutes. The bath strongly congests the skin, slows down the heart activity, reduces blood pressure and stress of the heart.
BUBBLE BATH
Bath in water saturated with pressured air. The water temperature is 36 to 37 °C, the bath lasts for 15 to 20 minutes. This alleviates neurosis and insomnia problems.
UNDERWATER MASSAGE
This treatment uses the effect of a hot bath and massage, providing relief for the muscles. The client lies in a large bath or Hubbard bath in water with a temperature of 35 to 37 °C. The physiotherapist massages with a stream of water. The treatment lasts for 15 minutes.
WHIRLPOOL
This treatment is applied to the upper and lower limbs either in small baths or as a full bath in a bathtub. The water temperature is 36 to 38 °C. Apart from improved congestion caused by heat, the soft massaging from the whirling water has a healing effect.
STEPPING BATH
This treatment uses two small baths, one filled with water at a temperature of 40 to 50 °C, the other with cold water at 10 to 16 °C. First the guest enters the hot bath and than remains there for about one minute while walking constantly. Then the guest enters the cold water and rubs one leg against the other while walking for 15 seconds. This is alternated 6 – 10 times. The treatment improves the congestion of the lower limbs, increases the immunity and speeds up the rinsing of the harmfull substances from the body.
SCOTTISH SPRAYS
A physiotherapist will massage the body at a distance of 4 m with a strong stream of hot and cold water. The guest stands and turns around slowly. The treatment starts with water at a temperature of 38 to 42 °C lasting for 30 seconds, and then continues with cold water for 5 to 10 seconds. The process is repeated several times and finishes with a cold spray. The treatment regulates the defects of the blood circulation system and increases the immunity of the organism.

SAUNA
This hyperthermal process with alternating heat stimulus is used for strengthening the body’s immunity and hardening your body. It lasts for 20 to 25 minutes.
This treatment is often prescribed after a mirror bath or bathtub bath. The guest relaxes on a massage table while the physiotherapist massages part or the whole body. The massage improves blood circulation, muscle congestion, oxygen supply to the muscles. It also helps maintain condition and increase the body’s immunity.
