Spa Hotel Palace*** is one of the most important works of the Prague architect Rudolph Stockar, who also drew up a master plan for the spa in 1929. It was built in two stages and stands at the northern end of the spa complex. The first stage was built between 1927 and 1931 as a seven-storey building for social events, food services and offices. It formed a modern two-level L-shaped function suite with three large dining rooms, cafés and bars with balconies that are illuminated by large sliding windows. The function rooms open onto covered colonnades or open terraces. On the ground floor of the north wing was an auditorium that could be used as a theatre or cinema. From the west balcony in the cinema there is access to an open loggia, where musicians would play for guests partying on an open-air dance floor. At the rear of the building was a service yard and a kitchen on each floor. A tower was built at the junction of the two wings. It appears massive but was originally planned to be taller. A sign saying “Sliac” was installed on the roof and remains there to this day.
The second stage was built between 1931 and 1937 in the form of a five-storey accommodation wing which produced the present 240 m long building. This section is a hotel with 249 rooms in three-wing layout making a closed courtyard to the north. The rooms were fitted out having regard for the comfort and the wallets of guests. At the corners of the courtyard there are staircase towers illuminated by glass-concrete bricks. The entrance hall of the hotel occupies two storeys with a balcony and wood panelling on the walls gives it an air of luxury.
Both parts meet at a partially open staircase of imposing dimensions, which covers the height difference between the eastern and western facades.  It provides access to the covered colonnades on both sides of the building. The colonnade on the western side is double floor while the one on the east is just ground level.
Spa Hotel Palace*** is functionalist, modern and elegant. It was the life’s work of the architect Stockar, who even designed the fit-out of the interior to the last detail, including the cutlery in the restaurants. In 1998 the Palace complex was declared a national cultural heritage monument.

The Palace complex was built in a functionalist style in the 1930s based on a design by the Prague architect Rudolf Stockar for which he was awarded a doctoral degree. The architect planned every detail of the building and its fit-out to emphasise functionality, including the furniture and the coffee pots. In 1998 the Palace complex was listed as a national cultural heritage monument and it has always been the spa’s dominant building. The complex is divided up into an accommodation unit, restaurants, cafés and a service section.
